Hey, Hey! =)

I’m Pilin (pronounced puh-LYNN) and I am so excited you are here. First off, THANK YOU for stopping by my little corner on the inter webs!  As a Movement & Wellness leader for over ten years, I would love to support you on your wellness journey. Read on for a snapshot of my own journey…. If you’re looking for an official bio, you can find it here.

I was born and raised in Flint, MI. Growing up, I had never heard of yoga and my idea of healthy eating was an iceberg lettuce salad. When I left home to begin my studies at Howard University as a Theatre Arts major, I discovered yoga and wellness. It was there, as a college freshman, twenty years ago, that I experienced my very first Yoga, Meditation, and West African Dance class—all of which have had a huge impact on my life and the work I do today. The latter, I LOVED instantly. Yoga and Meditation, on the other hand, took a little longer for me to appreciate. It wasn’t until I graduated, moved to New York, and needed an outlet to de-stress that I truly connected and started to practice regularly.

It was also as a college student that I accidentally became vegetarian. I say “accidentally” because, even though I was familiar with the vegetarian diet while growing up in the SDA church, I had never considered, nor had any intentions of going veg myself. That changed after watching a four-minute food prep safety video about bacteria living on meat, while working at a restaurant. Eek! After seeing it, I was disgusted and unconsciously began to eat less and less meat until, when after about six months, I realized that I had “weaned’ myself off of meat and decided to just continue the lifestyle.

During this time, I began to educate myself about the benefits of eating a plant-based diet. I had frequently experienced fatigue, incredibly painful cramps, bad acne, and had regular colds and ear infections. I had accepted these conditions as normal. I soon discovered that the foods I ate had the power to seriously shift my health! As I changed my diet, the symptoms slowly faded away, and once I quit dairy altogether, the stubborn acne and debilitating cramps vanished completely.

Today, I have nourished myself on a plant-based diet for almost 20 years. During that time I had two healthy plant-based pregnancies and birthed healthy vibrant plant-based kids— who are both thriving! I am on a mission to share the positive impacts of living a healthy lifestyle.

I recently launched the oMMM Life Coaching program with the intention to help moms connect with their highest selves through meals, movement, and mediation. No matter where you are on your journey, I am here to support you. Send me a note!
